Örtofta power heater
Örtofta CHP plant is Kraftringen's latest and largest production facility with a thermal output of 110 MW. It produces heat for the equivalent of 25,000 homes in Lund, Eslöv and Lomma. In addition, it produces electricity equivalent to the needs of the whole of Eslöv.
Challenging size and complexity
Örtoftaverket is one of Sweden's most modern production plants for district heating and electricity and is fuelled solely by biofuel. The CHP plant was completed in March 2014 and is Kraftringen's largest ever investment, amounting to SEK 1.8 billion.
Through a public procurement process, Power Heat was awarded the contract for the main piping installation in the plant, the Balance of Plant (BoP) in the power plant and two pumping chambers for district heating.
The assignment involved the prefabrication and installation of pipelines, pumps, heat exchangers and other equipment for district heating up to DN600 and for a large number of circuit systems such as process cooling, internal heating, ground heating, etc.
Many of the systems were classified according to the Pressure Vessels Directive with all its requirements in terms of execution, controls and documentation. Due to its size and complexity, this project has largely laid the foundation for the advanced project management model we have developed and apply in our projects today.
