Complete balance tank

The site's 15 buildings have different and varying heating and cooling needs, and Medicon Village Science Park in Lund is the first in the world to use ectogrid™, a system that reduces both their energy needs and costs.

The heart of the system is a balance tank, which in this case holds 150 m3 of water. The tank is constructed as a pressurised vessel with an attached architectural facade with LED lighting that varies with the temperature of the water in the tank.

As a turnkey contract, Power Heat has delivered a complete balance tank, including design and calculation of the pressure vessel, facade construction, manufacturing and installation and connection of the tank.

As the tank is essentially a pressure vessel, it is designed, manufactured and tested in accordance with EN 13445 to fulfil the applicable requirements of the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED).

The tank was manufactured, painted and insulated in our workshop in Malmö and then transported to Lund where it was set up and assembled. After connection and pressure testing, we installed the stainless steel facade.
